COVID-19 Update, stats from The Wedding Report (04/08/2020):

  1. 26% of couples are postponing to later in 2020, most of these are coming from April and May

  2. 26.5 % are moving to 2021

  3. 42% are holding their current date

This is a really hard time for a lot of couples but do remember you’re not alone. There are a lot of couples going through the same thing and the wedding industry is coming together to make sure your dream wedding still happens! If your wedding is a 2-3 month away, follow these steps:

  1. If you have a wedding planner, contact them FIRST. You can essentially skip the rest of the steps, since they’ll guide you through all of this. If you don't have a wedding planner continue reading :)

  2. Contact your venue ASAP for availability. Gather a few dates that work for your family and wedding party and be open to weekday slots.

  3. Check the availability with your vendors to ensure a seamless transfer.

  4. Lock in the new date with all your weddings pros, with a fresh contract.

It seriously can be that simple. Do NOT cancel if you don't have to. Most vendors are willing to transfer their services to a different day at no cost. If you cancel you'll loose out on a lot of retainers. Look over your contracts before making a decision.

"As a rule, I'm encouraging my couples to make a call one way or the other by 2 months prior to their wedding, as that usually lands them in decision mode before final payments and final counts are coming due." - Corinne Van Arsdale, New York Wedding Planner

In regards to the legal stuff, aka your marriage license, there are different time frames. "Not all counties require someone to apply for a marriage license. You can get your license the same day you ask for it....CA is a state where the couple can get their licence in any county in CA and its transferable to any county in CA." - Karie MacLeod, Lake Tahoe Planner

If you're planning a destination wedding make sure to make time to pick it up the day you arrive!
