Palisades Tahoe Wedding | Matt & Joe |

“Following the ceremony, Mr. Gorman wanted a photo with the tram behind the two of them. “The plan was to get it at sunset.” But they were on the wrong side of the event center as the tram was quickly approaching on the other. “We were running across the rocks. We got to the door, and the door was locked. The guy was sprinting to get the key.” They traversed the building and ran back outside. Much to their delight, “There was the tram, and we got the shot,” Mr. Gorman said.”

Oh man, where do I even begin with Matt and Joe? As a wedding photographer, I have the joy of capturing so many unique love stories, and each wedding holds a special place in my heart for its own reasons. Matt and Joe’s wedding was one I’d been eagerly anticipating.

I first met them during their engagement session (think of it as our first date!), and their charm and wit were absolutely captivating. They’re like the super nice cool kids—instantly warm, endlessly funny, and so easy to love. Nicky Nemus, the other shooter for the wedding, and I couldn’t stop talking about them afterward. We constantly remind each other how much we want to be friends with them!

Matt and Joe, can we join your tribe?

Matt and Joe were incredibly intentional about every decision. They even handwrote a letter to each one of their guests. It’s a testament to how deeply they value connection and the people who have supported them along the way.

The two married June 29 on the deck at Palisades Resort’s High Camp, which is 8,200 feet above sea level. Guests took a 10-minute, 85-person capacity tram to get there. The resort, previously known as Squaw Valley Resort, is in Olympic Valley, Calif., where the 1960 Winter Olympics were held.

The wedding was sprinkled with personal touches. For example, Matt’s friends Michael and Lauren sang a song from a musical they had all seen together.

They chose big, bright, happy wildflowers that perfectly captured their vibrant spirits!

Palisades Tahoe is a stunning mountain venue that brings all the beauty of the Sierra Nevadas to your wedding day. With wide-open views, and lush green meadows, it’s perfect for couples who love the outdoors. From a ceremony at the mountain's peak to a cozy reception, this venue makes every moment feel magical.

One of my favorite moments was talking to Joe at the after-party. He wasn’t sad that the day had come to an end; he was genuinely content, saying the wedding was everything they’d hoped for. That’s the perfect kind of closure: a beautifully complete day.
