West Shore Private Estate Wedding | Grace and Danny
Where do I even start with Grace and Danny...
Within minutes of our initial call, I knew they were a unicorn of a couple, and I really wanted to be their photographer. Having a peek into their world was such a treat. A few of my favorite things I observed as their third wheel:
They are intentional and laid back (my absolute favorite combo).
They are curious and show personal interest.
They love to adventure. Half of Grace's emails are out-of-office replies ;) Also, she doesn't post on Instagram (sigh, because I would be a fan).
They have a natural tendency to seamlessly integrate you into their tribe.
Enjoy a peek of their wedding day...
A casual first-look
Fun facts… Grace co-found Watsi. An organization that helps fund medical care for people in developing countries. And Danny is creating inspirational tunes. You can listen in at https://follow.dannyomusic.com/album
Planning and design was by One Fine Day Events
For the ceremony guests gathered in a lounge-style set-up. Friends and family shared their Grace and Danny stories while sipping on pretty cocktails and yummy appetizers!
“We spent a lot of time upfront getting clear about how we wanted to feel at our wedding, and found it really helpful to filter our decisions through the lens of those desired feelings -- e.g. 'will this contribute to us feeling more or less like x on the day?' We also prioritized only the things that felt most authentic and meaningful to us. We decided early in the planning process that we didn't want to start with a list of 20 wedding traditions and assume we'd do them all by default, cutting only the ones we had a good reason *not* to keep. Instead, we started with a blank slate and made sure we had a good, intentional, personal-to-us reason for everything we *did* do. It required a lot of reflection and some long, creative conversations about how to built certain rituals from scratch. But it ended up being an amazing opportunity to do our wedding the way we love to do life together, our way :) And it resulted in us feeling wonderfully ourselves and at home at our own wedding, which was our highest goal for the day!”
Instead of cutting the cake together, they dunked cookies!
“Being surrounded by our favorite people during our ceremony, relaxing in what was essentially an outdoor living room next to the lake and hearing stories, poems, and reflections from those closest to us as we entered this next phase was a magical experience. It was intimate, relaxed, and tender -- everything we hoped for when designing a somewhat unconventional ceremony. Every moment on the dance floor was pure joy. If we could bottle up energy of the music, the love and ease among the people there, and sense of peace and gratitude that settled in when we got that incredible dusty pink sunset over the lake, I'm pretty sure we'd have euphoria.”
The end.
