Nakoma Wedding | We found each other in the cosmos...
“This is most likely the one and only day in our lives that (nearly) all the people we loved were together in one space. We tried to never take that for granted and be as present as possible every moment. We’ve been together for 8+ years, so our alone time with each other is plentiful and we were happy to make that second priority on the wedding day. We love our friends and family so much - they made our love what it is, and made us who we are.”
Moments from Anna and Dan’s wedding day in no particular order…
Advice to future couples who are currently planning their wedding:
“Go easy on yourself - it’s tough to strike that balance of executing the wedding that feels like you, as well as not getting so attached that you set yourself up for disappointment. Things will change and that’s ok! The time with your loved ones is the most important part.”
Fun Facts:
Dan works in renewable energy and Anna works as an editor in the movie industry.
They have a tuxedo kitty named Jack
They have the same birthday!
Ceremony reading…
A letter from Ann Druyan regarding her late husband, Carl Sagan.
When my husband died, because he was so famous and known for not being a believer, many people would come up to me and ask me if Carl changed at the end and converted to a belief in an afterlife.
They also frequently ask me if I think I will see him again.
Carl faced his death with unflagging courage and never sought refuge in illusions. The tragedy was that we knew we would never see each other again. I don't ever expect to be reunited with Carl.
But, the great thing is that when we were together, for nearly twenty years, we lived with a vivid appreciation of how brief and precious life is. We never trivialized the meaning of death by pretending it was anything other than a final parting. Every single moment that we were alive and we were together was miraculous--not miraculous in the sense of inexplicable or su-pernatural.
We knew we were beneficiaries of chance. That pure chance could be so generous and so kind. That we could find each other, as Carl wrote so beautifully in Cosmos, in the vastness of space and the immensity of time.
That is so much more important than the idea I will see him someday. I don't think I'II ever see Carl again.
But I saw him. We saw each other. We found each other in the cosmos, and that was wonderful.
Anna and Dan's wedding centered on their tribe. Right from the beginning, they emphasized that the celebration wasn't solely about them—it was a shared experience with their loved ones. That’s what I loved most about their wedding. Anna and Dan held a deep appreciation for the rarity of their situation. They recognized the unique privilege of not only finding their lifelong partner but also spending a day in the company of their family and friends.
Anna and Dan, I’m so grateful to have been welcomed to your world for a day. Thank you for sharing your time and space with me :)
