Glenbrook Wedding | Audrey and Colby's Fun and Funky Wedding
“I always thought people were being dramatic when they said their wedding was the best day ever, but it really was. Having all of our family and friends gathered in one place was such an amazing experience and we would relive that weekend again and again if we could. I am so thankful for everyone who took the time and energy to travel to Tahoe to celebrate with us.” - A&C
I had been eagerly anticipating Audrey and Colby's wedding for quite some time. Over the past year, I found myself following Audrey's wedding journey closely—mainly to swoon over her stunning outfits! The day exceeded all expectations—bursting with vibrant colors, meticulously curated details, and an incredible group of people who brought the celebration to life. I even wore color to their wedding (a true testament of my love). Enjoy my current favorites from their big day….
A few favorite moments…
“It is hard to narrow it down because the whole day was perfect -- amazing mix of our favorite people, perfect weather, great food & drinks, such a good energy & most importantly getting to marry each other. I think one of the best parts was that we got to bring everyone into the place that is very personal to us -- my family has a house in the Glenbrook neighborhood and Colby and I have been coming to Tahoe and spending time in the neighborhood since very early on in our relationship. It is truly one of our favorite places, so having all of our favorite people gathered there at one time was surreal and so special. I love the fact that this place that was already special to us is now that much more special, and the fact that it will be a place we continue to come the rest of our lives. We kept reminding ourselves that this was the only time that this exact group of people would ever all be in one place together.” - A&C
Getting ready with my friends was so fun -- the morning was relaxing and we were giggling all day. I feel so lucky to have the best friends in the world. My friends made me a scrapbook with pictures and letters from each of them, and I am glad they gave it to me the morning after the wedding because I was immediately sobbing.
“Colby and my first look is a moment I will definitely always remember -- I felt so loved and seen when he turned around and was already crying. It was nice to get that moment with just the two of us before the festivities kicked off.” - Audrey
Tell me about your honeymoon or any future travel plans…
“Honeymoon is still in discussions, but will likely happen early next year! We were lucky enough to get to spend the week leading up to the wedding and the week after the wedding up in Tahoe with our friends and family, so that was amazing because it really made it feel like an extended vacation with everyone.
I am hoping we get to travel a ton in the next year together, and I am especially looking forward to our Honeymoon. Some of our good friends are starting to plan their wedding in Italy, so hopefully we will get to go there next year too!” - A&C
I loved the fact that we had my brother Joey officiate the wedding. He and I are only 13 months apart so he has been my best friend my whole life, so it was so meaningful to me to have him up there and hear what he had to say. He was the perfect mix of sentimental and funny.
“We have a bernedoodle named Rigatoni (aka Riggy) -- he was featured in a couple of ways at our wedding (on our custom matchbooks and cocktail napkins)” - C&A
“One of the things I was most worried about was the wedding day flying by and feeling like I did not get to spend enough time with everyone, so my advice would be to the extent possible create more than one event where you can spend time with people and plan accommodations where your guests have the option to stay close together, especially if you are having a destination wedding like we did. We got super lucky because we were able to have friends/family rent 10 houses in the Glenbrook neighborhood, so our wedding party and our immediate families were all close by for the entire weekend (some even longer). This allowed us to do a casual BBQ on Thursday for those who were already in town, a welcome party at Riva Grill for all of our guests so everyone could try some Wet Woodys, the wedding on Saturday, and then a beach day on Sunday to relax/recover/debrief from the wedding.”
About the proposal…
“One of our first trips out of the country together was a day trip to Valle de Guadalupe which is the Mexican Wine Country south of San Diego where we live, and we ended up getting engaged on a trip to the Valle 5 years later.”
“I think my other piece of advice is that Pinterest and Instagram and Tik Tok are all great places to get wedding inspo, but you need to have an objective perspective or you can get carried away or drive yourself crazy thinking you need to do a million different things at your wedding. We tried to focus on details that were actually meaningful to us as a couple or that we thought our friends and family would enjoy.”
Love note from A&C (insert all the happy crying emojis)…
“And last piece of advice is hire Elsa-- she is a dream to work with and her photos captured the day so perfectly. I knew immediately that I loved her style when I found her, and I am so happy that we had her by our side on our wedding day because our pictures are something I will treasure forever.”
